Synopsis

Likeable con artist, Sylvia Dickinson, packs up her dismal city life and moves into her mother and step-father’s mansion located within the affluent and charming suburb of Willows Creek.

It had been a year since Sylvia pulled off her greatest con. Discovering that she would not receive a penny of her parent’s multimillion dollar inheritance, Sylvia slipped away from a family dinner party one evening to forge Carol and George Halway's will, granting herself ownership to their large fortune and assets. A decision that was ignited by constant flashbacks of torment and neglect from her family growing up.

After deceiving the town into believing that her parents are dead – when in actual fact they're tied up in her basement watching the Lifestyle channel on repeat – Sylvia must now figure out a way to get rid of them painlessly and unsuspecting.

This idealistic lifestyle continues to drift further away from Sylvia’s manicured fingertips as the residents of Willows Creek grow more and more suspicious of her presence. Once the unbreakable trickster, she now finds herself on the credulous end of the spectrum. It’s especially difficult to hide secrets when her two dim-witted step siblings, Emily and Clint, are fuelled on seeking justice for their supposedly 'dead' parents. But Sylvia is not the only one hiding secrets. Whether it’s the gorgeous school teacher across the street, Mr. Watson, a prize Sylvia intends to win over; the overbearing neighbours, Jenny and Greg; the Vietnam Veteran constantly at battle with his own identity; or the creepy teen journalist, Woody who is on the hunt for his next big story, each one of these happy faces are all in some way masking more than just grimaces.

Sylvia will stop at nothing to ensure her newly acquired lifestyle is not taken away. She must learn to put aside insecurities and overcome her selfishness to band together with these unlikely friends and foes in order to clear her name and discover whose framing her for the towns deterioration.

Eventually, Sylvia discovers that it is the geeky Woody who is the real culprit behind framing her. The teen's dark history is exposed one night when he confronts Sylvia within Mr. Watson’s science room at the local high school. Revealing that Woody was an orphaned child whom Carol and George often cared for. He was there the night Sylvia forged her parents will, lurking outside the study room window. After seeing her erase his full name, Alan Peterson, from the will, his anger rose and was set on vengeance.

What follows is a showdown between the two – Sylvia coming out victorious.

Although Sylvia saves the town from a deranged teen, she jeopardises her own position. Ultimately, disclosing the truth about her past which leads her to being arrested for fraud. But knowing Sylvia, she wont go down without a fight.
